Without Border IV Gallery

The Without Borders festival this year, titled Conjunction, focuses on artistic forms that utilize technology and analog materials and processes in either production or presentation of the work. It includes a main exhibition centered around a variety of digital forms, installation sculptures, photos, prints, and various conceptual forms all of which were produced through collaborative processes, as well as performances, live music and video screenings. The variety of forms in the festival are all intended to serve to create a fertile exchange of creative ideas and artistic explorations.

Without Borders is the University of Maine's yearly contemporary arts festival. This year marks the seventh year the festival has been held. Through all of its manifestations the festival seeks to push boundaries, whether they are between mediums, geographic locations, or ideas and concepts. Over the last six years, we have hosted and/or presented national and international artists from 15 countries, including Canada, France, Mexico, England, Uganda, Italy, and from 20 different states.

These exhibitions, presentations and performances showcase not only artists from around the world but also present the work of advanced students in the Intermedia MFA program, The Exhibition is intended to be part of an endeavor by the Intermedia Masters Program to extend the relationship between the University of Maine and various collaborating institutions, thereby enriching our commitment to the development of International collaboration and future art professionals.

The Without Borders VI: Conjunction was made possible by generous support from the Cultural Affairs/Distinguished Lecture Series Fund, the Department of New Media and the Intermedia MFA Program.
